Perfect Wedding Day Makeup Takes Planning

Wedding Makeup

Perhaps the most important factor to most brides is the bridal look: gown, hair, and makeup. After all, for what other special occasion does a grown-up girl get to dress up like a princess for the day? One of the most important factors in the bride taking great wedding photos is the wedding day makeup.

It’s a day that will live forever, both in photo and video, and in the minds and hearts of all who attend. Thus is the reason that brides pay so much attention to every little detail of their wedding day. Most brides want everything to be perfect, and with good reason!

There are several things to think about in order to make it truly perfect. So getting perfect wedding day makeup takes a little bit of planning. Most brides shop for their makeup a couple months in advance, and it’s always a good idea to have a trial run with the makeup artist who will be applying the makeup on the big day. (Be sure to take pictures at this appointment, so everyone can remember what it’s supposed to look like!)

wedding makeup colors

Colors are extremely important, and don’t forget that the bride will be wearing white (or off-white) to the wedding! Mauves, roses, and natural colors look best on most skin tones, but experimenting with color is often key to achieving the perfect look. Don’t leave that to the wedding day!

The bride should start her facial preparations a couple weeks before the wedding with spa treatments such as facials, masks, and eyebrow waxing.

On the day of the wedding, have the professional makeup artist apply the makeup to not only the bride, but the entire bridal party. This eliminates a great deal of stress and makes the experience fun for all. Who doesn’t appreciate a little bit of pampering on such an important (and usually long) day?

Once the makeup is applied, the bride needs to have a small touch-up kit assembled that includes mascara, lipstick, gloss, lip liner, powder, blotting papers, tissues, and emergency cover-up.

It’s vitally important for brides to understand that tears need to be dabbed, not wiped! Waterproof mascara is usually the best choice, and touch-ups are a great idea to keep the wedding day makeup perfect all day long.
